Masking With Photoshop…

A few weeks ago, I attended a wedding of one of my friend. It was a very interesting wedding and I have to say, one of the more fun one I’ve been to. I had taken two separated pictures and did a little photoshop masking (merging of photo) for the fun of it and see how it would come out. Let me know what you think.

The larger picture could be found on my website at http://www.photographybykevin.net or look at it directly through this link http://www.photographybykevin.net/pictures/misc/images/misc-37.jpg

The original picture consisted of a picture of the bride looking back at the crowd behind her. The groom was a separated picture I had taken of him later on in the day. What I did with this picture was (all done in Photoshop CS2)

1) Mask out the picture of the bride so I could create a layer of her by her self.
2) Mask out the picture of the groom and make him a layer by himself in this picture.
3) Use a glamour filter on the bride, so she seem a bit soft in comparison to the overall picture
4) Use transform function to resize the layer of the group to match up with the crowd behind him. Also tone down the contrast and level of him.
5) Move the layer of the groom behind the layer of the bride. Basically sandwich the groom between the original image and the layer of the bride I had masked out. This way, you can see part of the groom’s arm between the spaces of the bride’s arm.
6) Apply some noise to the image and B&W filter to turn it in to Black and White.
7) Add border to the picture to create a nicer effect.
