HTC Diamond and Touch Pro Unleashed(aka: Raphael)

Jan 9th, 2009 | By dikiem | Category:Cell Phones | 2 comments | 5,444 views |

I had used this for about a month before returning it for the Omnia, but did came across many really good tips during that time I wanted to share.

Personally, I like the design and attention to detail of the Touch Pro over the Omnia. What caused me to return was the added thickness and not having the need for the keyboard. The magnetic stylus and crisp LCD was the top seller for me on the Touch Pro. Also paying over $250.00 bucks for the Touch Pro vs under 90 bucks for the Omnia was a no brainer for me. :)

Jabra BT 3030

I was curious how the A2DP Bluetooth function works, so I went out and purchase the Jabra BT-3030. I have to say, it is a pretty niffty device. It allows me to use whatever headset I want (i.e.: Bose Quiet Comfort 2, Shure Earbud, etc.,).  I’ve used with my Bose QC2 and it worked nicely. The Jabra BT-3030 has a microphone jack, so you can also use it to take calls too. I already have the Motorola H12 and on order the Plantronic 925, so I’ll just use this to listen to music. Useful when I can leave my phone charging or dock at my desk, and still listen to music while I am around about. It is especially great for the gym, don’t have to carry an ipod and my phone at the same time now. It uses bluetooth signal to control the media player on the Omnia. Not too bad!

Plantronic 925

I recently had to replace my Motorola H12 because it went bad. This is a nice replacement. Fairly comfortable, the travel case is actual an extended battery mobile charger, and the sound was crisp. You should check it out.

  • Disable Dialer Skin

Want 8-12 more MB of free RAM on your horribly gimped 6850???? Just disable the pretty HTC dialer skin. The dialer will switch back to the default WM one, which to be honest, I still prefer. Little did I know the HTC skin was sucking up about 10 MB of RAM.

-’HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Security / Phone / Skin’
-change the value of ‘Enabled’ from 1 to 0.
-do a soft reset

  • Adjust Screen Sensitivity

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel
Value = PressureThreshold

The default Is Disabled “1″

Funny thing is, I used this on the iPhone 3G, funny to have.

Summary
There are already a lot of applications to disable touchpanel and/or hardware keys for the Touch Diamond and Pro. I added the next step of improvements on top of StylusLock:
* lock using the Power button, BattClock and/or Stylus Sensor
* auto-unlock by the Light Sensor
* unlock using triple touch of the Capacitive Sensor
* unlock using Stylus Sensor
* unlock when on AC/USB power
