The purpose of this tutorial is to provide an easy and quick reference that may be used as a guide while coding to build lists using ALV Grid Control. Actually, there is easy-to-reach information about implementing ALV Grid lists. However, it is generally required to find the information sought in a quicker way. This tutorial handles this, being a condensed source that can be used as a “guide.” It will not deal with the technical infrastructure on which ALV lays. Some of the tables are taken from the online SAP Library, which is the most trustable source about the topic. Shortly, this will be a booklet summarizing major capabilities of the ALV Grid Control.

Our business scenario describes a real-time business environment. In our scenario we will imagine using SAP R/3 for ERP applications and business needs that will then be used for various integrations. Examples are using Hyperian systems for corporate financial reporting, LIMS for auality assurance and EH&S applications, VERTEX as the tax software, mainframes, Solumina, I2, ICH, CRM, SCM, SRM, BIW, SEM, etc., for various business needs. Apart from this, we use EDI for business partners’ communications involving order information, delivery information, shipping and billing information, and invoices. This scenario evolves into a complex project needing huge amount of development work and maintenance.
It will grow more difficult to manage as we move forward.To cut this short, all the interfaces developed in SAP R/3 with various outbound/inbound environments can be replaced with XI in a most adoptable way within the permitted industry standard.

In the SAP System, you can use the following methods to transfer data from the application
components in Human Resources (HR) to a third-party system, or vice versa:
Interface Toolbox
Application Link Enabling (ALE [Ext.])
Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI [Ext.])
A comparison of the technology [Page 10] shows which method is most suitable to perform the
task.
You use the Interface Toolbox to retrieve data from Human Resources for further processing in a
third-party system. The third-party system can be a payroll system used outside of the SAP
System. This can be useful if, for example, you run gross payroll in your enterprise and the net
payroll takes place in a third-party system.
Alternatively, you can use the Toolbox to import results based on personnel numbers from the
third-party system and use them for payroll in the SAP System.
You use the interface to
Evaluate data from Human Resources in a third-party system
Run payroll partially or completely in a third-party system
The data is retrieved from the Personnel Administration (PA-PA), Payroll (PY), and Time
Management components, or from all three.
